While we prepare in the Netherlands for departure to our very first international location, Luanda, Angola, the final preparations for the presentation of Art Project Armazoen are also being made on location itself.
In August 2025, our own sea container completed its national route during SAIL2025. Because it unfortunately proved too logistically difficult to also have our sea container make the international route by sea transport (as was the original idea), each international partner now has their own, nearly identical, blue sea container in which Art Project Armazoen is presented.
Presenting the project at the various international locations each brings its own challenges. In Angola, for example, particular care needs to be taken with the weather conditions, as daytime temperatures rise well above 30 degrees Celsius and humidity is high.
Unlike our own sea container, installing a fan and air conditioning is a requirement here. At the same time, this must not disturb the hushed sound of the soundscape of the dance film Armazoen!
Something else that is more confronting than initially expected is how self-evident it is for us here in the Netherlands to have sufficient access and resources for the most desirable possible execution and presentation of the project. For a country like Angola, this is not the case at all. We have been able to bridge this gap thanks to the financial contribution to this project from the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science, and the help and dedication of the Dutch embassies at the various locations.
