Dance coaching

In dance coaching, the focus is on developing artistic expression through movement. This is reinforced at the same time by working on various dance-technical aspects.

Choreography coaching

In choreography coaching, the participant works on their own piece. In various ways, they are encouraged to reflect on what they want to communicate through their own work, and to gain clarity about the exact intention of the piece. By attending rehearsals and making and analysing video recordings, the choreographic and dramaturgical development of the piece is followed, and thought is given together to how the piece can best be presented.

Stage presentation coaching

In stage presentation coaching, the focus is on becoming aware of one’s own physical presence on stage, making use of the space on stage, (whether or not) making contact with the audience, having conversations about exactly what one wants or hopes to convey to the audience, and much more.

Classes & workshops in academic dance technique

Regardless of which style you work in, academic dance technique (with classical ballet at its foundation) can give you as a dancer an extra solid base for delivering a convincing performance, both technically and artistically.

Nowadays, dancers are generally expected to have a solid knowledge of academic dance technique, which is founded on classical ballet technique.
That is why Monique Duurvoort occasionally organises classes and/or workshops in classical ballet / academic dance technique.

Content

The classes consist of a barre and centre section. Work is done on dance-technical elements such as placement, balance, strength and flexibility, with dance technique geared towards musicality and sense of rhythm. Attention is given to how all these elements can be applied when learning and performing dance combinations. What makes dance as a ‘form’ specific, and what does that do to the expressive power of the movements you are performing?

Aim

Gaining insight and experience in how you can use and apply classical ballet / academic dance technique to develop and strengthen your personal artistic expression. The better you master classical ballet / academic dance technique, the more purposefully you can use it to express yourself.

Who is it for?

  • Students in the final 2 years of a professional dance training programme (secondary or higher vocational level)
  • Young dance professionals
  • Dancers from the advanced amateur circuit
  • Dancers looking to deepen their artistic practice
  • Dancers who want to present their performance with more confidence

Keep an eye on this website to see when the next series of classes and/or workshops begins.
